WEDDING GUEST

PORTRAITS

THE PROCESS

I’ll arrive before the ceremony to get set up in order to begin painting guest portraits at the start of cocktail hour and into the reception. I will provide a 2x4’ table with a white linen table cloth and chair, unless the couple would like to arrange a different table or tablecloth to be used.

During the ceremony, I’ll paint a 5x7” guest portrait of the bride & groom.

When cocktail hour starts, I’ll begin taking photos of guests who come to the table and work through painting as many photos as I can during my contracted hours. Your wedding guests will be amazed and excited about their custom portrait and some will get to take them home that evening! I will have a sign on my table that says, “Live Watercolor Guest Portraits,” but it can be helpful to consider where people will be congregating for my table placement and having someone make an announcement to draw guests toward getting their photos taken. Typically, most guests will have their photo taken during cocktail hour and I’ll move my table to the reception area for the remaining time. If you or your wedding planner want to have a second table out for me already in the reception area, that’s great too- but not necessary.

On average, I take about 5 minutes to draw and paint each person, 10 minutes for two people (this time is industry standard). I can paint around 6 couples per hour. Each portrait is ink and watercolor paint on a 5x7” piece of watercolor paper, and wrapped in a plastic sleeve for safe keeping as the guests bring them home. The paintings will be ready for framing and displaying in your guests’ homes to remember your wedding day by.

Any remaining photos (this will be the majority of the photos since I paint an average of 6 couples per hour on site) that have not been painted by the end of my contracted time will be completed and mailed to the bride and groom following the wedding day. I will send an email with the matching guest photographs to the couple as well so that they can match the guest portraits to the appropriate guests.
